Fashion Tip—Button-Down Vs. Button-Up Shirts!

There is a subtle difference between a button up and a button down shirt; however, knowing this difference changes the complete wearability of which should be worn for certain occasions!

1. First, what is a button up shirt! A button up shirt simply is a shirt that has buttons running up along the front side of the shirt (simply a shirt that buttons up in the front).

A button up shirt is commonly known as a Dress Shirt or sometimes a front-button shirt. Most commonly seen in formal wear attire.

2. Now we head over to the button down shirt. A button down shirt is a type of button up shirt, but the difference is that the collar has an extra set of buttons in which to “button down” the collar.

Because of this feature, this changes the wearability in the sense that a button down shirt is CASUAL!

Button down shirts Should NOT be worn with a suit or for a formal attire.

In fact the button down shirt originated from the sporting world of Polo in the latter part of the 1800’s. (Created to keep the collars out of the faces of the players riding the horses)

Positive Thought—Perspective! Sometimes the answer we are looking for is right in front us. All we have to do is get a new perspective or see something in a different light than before.

A lot of times, it can be hard to change our viewpoint, but when we do, everything can change and there is no limit to what we can do, know, or see.

Be Bold! Be Different! Be You!
